CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. -- A candidate for Hickory City Council is accused of taking indecent liberties with a child.
Joseph Brannock will appear in court on Monday. His bond was set at $41,500.
Brannock lists himself as a Catawba County substitute teacher on his campaign s facebook page.
The Hickory Daily Record reports he was arrested at the Catawba County Schools Administration building Friday, and that his accuser is a girl younger than 16-years-old.
Sheriff Coy Reid confirmed the arrest and charges, but stated he couldn t release any additional details about the case.
NBC Charlotte s attempts to contact Brannock for comment were not immediately returned.
