CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- When the Golden Globes air Sunday night, people from the Charlotte area will be rooting for some of their new friends.

'Homeland,' a series on Showtime, is up for several awards and was shot in Charlotte and several surrounding cities.

Many of the scenes look pretty familiar to Dot Adams.

We had neighbors coming from everywhere thinking, what s going on over here, Adams said.

The house across the street from her in a SouthPark neighborhood serves as the home for the lead character and his family.

We ve been very involved because the production crew set up in my driveway and the stars were here. They were very, very nice, Adams added.

She has loved watching the show and spotting her house, her street and other Charlotte landmarks.

You see Freedom Park, you see places that are here and it s been quite a thing to watch the whole (show) coming together, Adams added.

The coolest thing, she says, was when the production used lighting to create a full moon for one scene and when they had to make snow.

They sprayed my whole yard and (my neighbor s) whole yard to look like it was snowing, she said.

She s looking forward to when cast and crew come back this spring to start work on the second season.

Parts of the series were shot across our entire area, including Union, Gaston, Rowan and Iredell counties.
