LANDIS, N.C. -- One firefighter was injured during a mill plant fire early Thursday morning in Rowan County.

Emergency crews said the firefighter suffered from heat exhaustion but is expected to be OK.

Rowan County firefighters were called to the mill plant around 4:30 a.m. after flames were seen coming from the roof.

The building was empty when fire crews arrived on scene off of North Meriah Street in Landis, according to fire officials.

The building is no longer used as a mill plant but other businesses do rent the complex.
