LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- The Lincolnton Police Department has charged a man with the murder of a woman found dead on Friday.

The incident happened at 1225 Untold Way. According to authorities, 41-year-old Jerry Alvin Black Junior called 911 and told dispatchers his girlfriend was dead.

According to Lincolnton Police, Black said he fell asleep on the couch and when he woke up Jennifer Lee Costner, 51, was dead.

When police arrived on the scene they determined that Costner was murdered.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Costner suffered from blunt force trauma to her head. She also had multiple cut and stab wounds to her body.

Investigators tell NewsChannel 36, Black has a history of assault on females, drug use, and sexual assault.

He's facing a charge of first degree murder.
