CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Three local high school students were involved in a wreck in southeast Charlotte on Thursday morning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said a girl and two boys from Myers Park High School were involved in an accident at the intersection of North Sharon Amity and Castleton roads in the Cotswold neighborhood around 7:15 a.m.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said firefighters needed to free a motorist who was trapped during the wreck. One victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A second victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

CMS did not say if any of the high school students were among the injured victims in the accident.
Police reopened two closed lanes on Sharon Amity after crews cleared the scene around 9:30 a.m.

It's unclear what caused the wreck.
