CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Department of Defense announced Friday a soldier from Greensboro died from non-combat-related injuries.

Specialist David T. Proctor, 26, of Greensboro, died Wednesday at an Army hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

Officials say Spc. Proctor sustained injuries in a non-combat incident while serving in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

Spc. Proctor served with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armor Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division based out of Fort Stewart in Georgia.
