CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Cinderella squad from Dunk City, USA has some Queen City roots.

Florida Gulf Coast University guard DaJuan Graf is from Charlotte and played high school ball at Phillip O. Berry Academy. He is still getting used to the new found fame, after his team busted nearly every bracket by becoming the first 15 Seed to make it to the Sweet 16.

His former coach, Carlton Anthony, could not be happier for the player.

I am so proud, so proud of DaJuan, said Anthony. He worked so hard for this and deserves every minute of it.

Anthony vividly recalls the Eagles recruiting DaJuan.

I told him don't worry about the big names or the fancy lights of a school. Kids need to go to the school that shows them the most love. I emailed about 100 schools for DaJuan and they all just tagged me back. Except, I remember, the coaches from FGCU really being about him. They showed him the most love, Anthony said.

The coach talks to his former player before and after every game. He said the players are excited, but hungry for the next win.

They celebrated making history, but they are not done yet, explained Anthony. I told DaJuan, 'Just win two more games and I'll see you down in Atlanta for the Final Four.' I mean that. I would put my money on them now. They are having fun and playing well.

Graf told NBC Charlotte via FaceTime Monday night that he is still trying to let this all sink in, but finds it surreal people back in his hometown of Charlotte are cheering on his FCGU team in the tournament.
