CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. -- A grandmother has been charged after lawmen say her granddaughter brought marijuana to school Thursday morning.

Carteret County deputies confirmed that Robin Carson was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor after her 13-year-old granddaughter took the pot to Beaufort Middle School.

The school system says students alerted the principal as soon as they got off the bus at school. Appropriate discipline has been taken against the girl, according to a district spokeswoman.

Deputies say the pot belonged to Carson.

The 52-year-old woman's bond was set at $3,000. She has a November 20th court date.
