MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Mooresville Police are investigating two armed robberies they say are connected.

Saturday morning around 4:30, Mooresville Police responded to the McAlister's Deli in the 600 block of River Highway.

Authorities say an armed robber forced a delivery driver inside the restaurant, stole the deli's safe and fled.

The delivery driver was unharmed.

Police say the safe was found abandoned nearby, unopened.

Then, about 15 minutes later, Mooresville Police say they responded to an armed robbery at the QuikTrip, also in the 600 block of River Highway. In this incident, authorities say the suspect stole an employee's vehicle and fled. The stolen vehicle is a gray 2012 Chevy Malibu with NC tags BKP4826.

In both robberies, the suspect, a black male, wore a gray hoodie and a mask on his face.

If you have any information on these robberies, you're asked to contact Mooresville Police.
