LINCOLNTON, N.C. -- Lincoln County deputies say an argument between brothers escalated to a knife fight.
Wednesday morning around 8:45, deputies responded to a home in the 2500 block of Concord Road. When officers arrived on scene, 45-year-old Rodney Scott Wright suffering a stab wound.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Rodney and his brother, 43-year-old John A. Wright, got into an argument at their mother's house, and Rodney struck John with a wine bottle.
Then, officials say, Rodney went outside and picked up a wooden handle. When Rodney walked back inside with his newly-found weapon, that's when John pulled a knife and stabbed Rodney, authorities say.
Rodney was taken to Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators and the District Attorney's Office have ruled the case as self defense.
