Amber Alert canceled for NC infant; found safe and unharmed
DURHAM, N.C. -- An Amber Alert was issued for Tamiyah Elssy Bryant out of Durham Saturday.
Sunday the Amber Alert was canceled after baby Tamiyah was found safe and unharmed in Emporia, Virginia. Her alleged abductor is 26-year-old Rodney Francis Bryant.
According to WNCN
, The child's father, Rodney, was arrested without incident by Emporia police, and will be extradited from Virginia to face charges of first-degree kidnapping, assault on a female and communicating threats. The Wake County Sheriff's Office will handle Rodney Bryant's transportation.
Police said Rodney Bryant was taking his girlfriend, Elssy Olivares, to work at an IHOP in Garner on Saturday; but when she attempted to get out of the car, Bryant forcefully held her in the car and eventually made her get out on Interstate 40 in Durham.
Police said he continued driving with the child in the car. Durham police said Rodney Bryant has made threats to kill himself and the child.
Durham police are transporting Olivares to Emporia to reunite her with her baby and recover the vehicle.
