BELMONT, N.C. -- Investigators say an early-morning business fire in Belmont was an accident.

Firefighters responded to the old Spectrum yarn plant on River Drive at about 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Officials say a small fire broke out on the roof of the building, and the sprinkler system extinguished most of the blaze.

Investigators say a mechanical failure caused the fire.

No one was hurt.
