CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte police are searching for three suspects that used counterfeit money at a market in east Charlotte last weekend.

According to a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police report, three suspects entered the Giant Penny off of The Plaza on Sunday and separately purchased merchandise with counterfeit $20 bills.

The suspects bought a bag of chips and two ice teas and received change back from the transaction.

After the suspects left the market, the clerk realized that the three $20 bills were counterfeit, according to the police report.
