CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- In just about one month, 400,000 people are expected to pack uptown Charlotte for the Food Lion Speed Street festival.

Event organizers and police met Tuesday to discuss some changes because of construction in uptown this year and after last year s shootings.

Two people were shot after the festivities wrapped up, and one of those victims died.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they are prepared to move around and control crowds as necessary.

It s really about command and control, making sure we have the right people in the right places to manage those crowds and the events that occur, said Deputy Chief Harold Medlock.

People attending the festival will notice the entertainment stages have moved because of the construction in uptown this year.

The Miller Light stage will be found at the corner of South Tryon and East Stonewall streets.

The Cheerios stage and children's activities will be on South Tryon near Fourth Street.
