ROCK HILL, S.C. One man is behind bars after police said he stole a car with a 1-year-old child in the backseat in Rock Hill Tuesday afternoon.

Travis Davis was arrested around 1 p.m. after police said he forced a woman from her car on Eastview Road and took it after she gave him a ride with her 1-year-old still in the car. Davis, who knew the victim, allegedly pushed the mother away from the car and drove off.

A witness who was an off-duty trooper at the time followed the vehicle until Rock Hill Police Department officers stopped Davis and made the arrest.

Davis, 27, will likely be charged with grand larceny, carjacking, kidnapping and burglary, according to the York County Sheriff's Office.
