CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- More than a year after construction began for UNC Charlotte's new football stadium, the new home to the 49ers is nearing completion.
Practice fields are expected to be finished in August, while the full stadium bowl should be done by September.
The school announced in November their 15,000-seat stadium will be named McColl-Richardson Field, in appreciation of former Bank of America CEO Hugh McColl and Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson, both of whom provided financial support for the football program.
