CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two people were injured when they were hit by a vehicle in north Charlotte late Thursday morning.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said two pedestrians were hit on West Sugar Creek Road near the I-85 northbound on ramp.

A truck on the entrance ramp struck two women walking along Sugar Creek in the crosswalk, police say.

Medic said the two victims were taken to a local hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries; one, officials say with a broken leg. Both women were taken to CMCMain.

Police were able to clear the scene around 10:45 a.m.
