YORKCOUNTY, N.C. -- A Rock Hill man has been arrested after an infant was taken to the hospital Monday morning with a broken arm and leg.

According to the case report filed by the York County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to Piedmont Medical Center in reference to a possible child abuse case.

Medical personnel told the deputy the nearly-2-month-old infant had sustained a broken arm and a fractured leg.

The child's mother, Alexis Sanders, told authorities the 7-week-old baby was laying in her bassinet when she jumped into the shower around 12:45 Monday morning. Sanders continued that while she was in the shower she heard the infant crying to the point that it made her quickly jump out of the shower and run into the bedroom.

Bryan Wayne George, 28, was picking up the child to console her when Sanders walked back into the room, the report states. Sanders then went to heat up a bottle and returned to the bedroom where George was laying with the infant. George told Sanders the baby had just spit up; Sanders turned on the bedroom light to find a pool of blood on George's chest. That's when 911 was called.

George, who authorities say is the infant's father, is charged with unlawful neglect of a child or helpless person. He's held in the York County Jail without bond.
