CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- First responders were on the scene after two school buses were involved in a crash.

The accident happened Monday near the 500 block of Beatties Ford Road around 5 p.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools says the two buses are from the Northwest School of the Arts. Officials said one bus rear-ended the other.

Five students were transported to the hospital following the crash, but all are expected to be okay. Their injuries were described as scrapes and bruises.

Bus 75 had 41 students on board, and bus 1481 had 31 students on board. A replacement bus was brought on scene to transport students to their shuttle stops. The principal of Northwest School of the Arts is expected to sent out a message to parents and guardians.

No word yet if either of the drivers will face charges or receive citations.
