CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A Charlotte man led troopers on a high-speed chase Monday morning, officials say.

North Carolina Highway Patrol says they initiated a traffic stop on Dajuan Lamonte Fleming, 23, of Charlotte, on suspicion of a fictitious tag on I-77S near Nations Ford Road around 10 a.m., but Fleming took off, leading troopers on a 20-minute pursuit.

Troopers tell NBCCharlotte Fleming ran from them at speeds in excess of 100 mph before the chase ended on the quiet, dead-end Stoney Creek Lane in northeast Charlotte.

Fleming is charged with felony speeding to elude arrest, going 100 mph in a 55 mph zone and fictitious tag; authorities say Fleming was also arrested on an outstanding felony warrant for possession of cocaine.
