CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A pair of shootings early Friday morning kept police busy a short distance south of the uptown area.

Two men were taken into custody after the shootings, police say, adding that victims gave a similar description of the gunmen in the two cases.

The first shooting was reported about 1 a.m. on Kingston Avenue, between South Tryon Street and Mint Street, in the Wilmore community. A man reported being shot in the hip after an argument with two other men. Police say it appeared as if a shotgun was used in the attack.

About 45 minutes later, a man reported being shot in the leg nearby on Southwood Avenue.

It is not clear what led to the shootings, but police said neither of the injuries was thought to be life-threatening.
