CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Some local post office employees rallied Tuesday afternoon in an effort to save their jobs.

The demonstration was part of a larger national push to bring attention to the plight of the U.S. Post Office.

A few dozen postal workers rallied in SouthPark on Morrison Boulevard near Sharon Road.

Meanwhile, in an effort to drum up some cash and help boost their bottom line, the U.S. Postal Service is dropping its longstanding rule that to be honored on a postage stamp you have to be dead.

The Post Office says it will consider acclaimed American musicians, sports stars, writers, and other nationally known figures who are living now.
