CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are trying to solve a robbery that started out as a burglary.

The crime happened on Greenleaf Avenue Monday morning around 8:30.

The suspect let himself into the house through a bedroom window. He may have thought he was alone, but a 16-year-old was in the house.

Went to the porch to check it out and I heard the noise again in my house and it was a louder noise, said the teen who did not want to be identified.

The teen says he walked towards his mother s bedroom and pushed open the door and found a stranger.

There was a guy sitting in my mom's room going through her stuff completely destroyed the room drawers everything, said the victim

The teen says the suspect pulled out a gun and he tried to talk to him.

When he first pulled the gun out I said, 'man you don't have to shoot me,' he said, 'I'm not going to shoot you just give me what you got. '

The teen says he realized the best thing to do was play it safe and cooperate.

I was in shock that it was a gun face to face with me but I knew as long as I did what he wanted there would be no reason for him to hurt me, the teen said.

The teen didn t get hurt, the robber got away and now police are trying to find him.
