CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A fallen tree caused more than 180,000 gallons of wastewater to spill into Kings Branch in southwest Charlotte.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Utility Department responded to the broken wastewater pipe on Friday in the 9500 block of Hebron Commerce Drive. A fallen tree damaged the pipe and prompted the spillage.
Authorities say an estimated 183,500 gallons of wastewater spilled into Kings Branch.
Crews dammed the creek and pumped out spillage into a manhole for treatment.
CMUD says no dead fish were found due to the spillage.
