CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A mother and son are facing charges after they tried to smuggle pot through Charlotte airport security.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police, 42-year-old Karen Sullivan and her 25-year-old son Korey Braley were headed to Bermuda with nearly $15,000 worth of marijuana.

Authorities said mom and son stuffed the marijuana into their checked bags in plastic packages.
They laid it flat in the bottom of the luggage and concealed it inside the luggage liner covered in a plastic cover.

Both mother and son now face several drug trafficking charges.
