CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A man sexually assaulted two women in Charlotte within a week, Charlotte-Mecklenburg detectives say.

Andre Jerlynn Jones, 29, was taken into custody on Friday.

The first incident happened May 15 in the 2000 block of Emerywood Drive. The victim told police she arranged to meet Jones, who then allegedly assaulted her and fled the scene.

Police say the second incident happened May 22. A separate victim arranged to meet Jones also at the location on Emerywood Drive, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. Officers say the suspect raped the woman at knifepoint.

Upon processing evidence, detectives quickly determined both assaults were related. Police say Jones was found Friday at the location on Emerywood, where he was arrested by police.

Jones is charged with first- and second-degree forcible rape and carrying a concealed weapon.

Detectives say other charges may be filed.
