CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say they found reason to criminally charge the mother of a 4-month-old baby killed in a crash this week.

Kayla Marie Davis, 18, was arrested Saturday.

She is charged with felony child abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Thabiti Ashim Pierre-Louis, 21, was driving the car involved in the single-vehicle crash that killed Londyn Tuesday.

CMPD says the child was being held by a passenger in the backseat when the driver crashed into a utility pole. The car flipped and Londyn was ejected on impact. Police say the vehicle landed on her when it came to a rest.
