INDIAN TRAIL A trailer from the nonprofit group Carolina Waterfowl Rescue was stolen Thursday morning.

The group said the trailer is used to transport the birds it cares for.

The trailer, valued at $1,500, was discovered stolen Thursday morning and was last seen by volunteers Wednesday evening, Director Jennifer Gordon said.

The nonprofit group said they use the trailer several times a week to transport rehabilitated birds to release sites and injured birds to the rescue, she said.

An online donation campaign to replace the trailer has been set-up as the rescue's insurance deductible won't allow for replacement of the trailer.

Anyone with information about this theft is asked to call the Union County Sheriff's Office at 704-283-3789.
