STATESVILLE, N.C. -- It appears a breaking-and-entering suspect cost a store more money in damage than he did by stealing any property, police say.

Employees of the Belk location on East Broad Street in Statesville called police Wednesday morning.

The man broke in through the roof and ceiling, police say. Surveillance video shows he then spent quite a bit of time in the store before exiting through ceiling panels.

The store estimates the damage to the ceiling totals thousands of dollars. It s unknown what was even taken from the store at this point in the investigation.

Anyone who recognizes the man pictured is asked to call Statesville Police at 704-878-3406 or Iredell Crime Stoppers at 704-662-1340.
