CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- In the nine-person race for four at-large Charlotte City Council seats, Democrats picked up a clean sweep Tuesday night.

Democrats Patrick Cannon, David Wright, Claire Fallon and Beth Pickering were the top four vote getters, with Cannon picking up the most votes at 18 percent.

Republican Edwin Peacock failed in his re-election bid as he fell just about 5,000 votes shy of fourth place finisher Pickering.
