GASTON COUNTY, N.C. Monday morning five puppies were found abandoned in a Gaston County Dumpster and Thursday night two ducklings were plucked out of a Dumpster.

Folks out at the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue say someone was selling the ducklings at a Gaston County flea market. Apparently, the baby birds didn't sell so someone dumped them in the trash.

Rescue workers say the ducklings were in bad shape.

They were very cold and wet and would not have survived even after a few hours, said Jennifer Gordon, Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. They would have died. The weather's very cold.

Rescue workers say those birds are now recovering. These ducklings are domesticated and are in need of a home. Call 704-668-9486 for more details.
