SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Spartanburg County officials have identified the man found dead in a fire last week.

The coroner's office says the victim was 22-year-old Cullen Jacob Tracey of Spartanburg.

Four fire departments responded to the fire early on January 25. Officials say it took time to identify the remains because of accessing some records outside South Carolina.

Converse Fire Chief Tim Jones says flames and black smoke were pouring out of the front of the home when firefighters arrived.

Jones says there were seven people in the home when the fire started. The other six people made it outside safely.

The coroner's office is still working to determine the cause of death.
