CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two accidents are causing big problems for Charlotte commuters Thursday morning.

An accident on Interstate 77 south near Woodlawn Road brought traffic to a standstill around 8 a.m. At one point, traffic one backed up 8 miles on I-77.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police and NC Highway Patrol were able to clear the accident to the shoulder and traffic is slowly moving again in the area.

The second accident in on the outer loop of I-485 near the South Boulevard exit.

The wreck is causing onlooker delays on both sides of I-485.

Traffic is moving in the area, but delays are still being reported.
