CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The owner of a troubled west Charlotte nightclub will have a court hearing next month that could determine the future of his business.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are seeking to hold Curtis Leak in contempt. He is the owner of Club Vox on Wilkinson Boulevard.

In 2010, police shut down the club claiming it was a magnet for violence and crime. A judge gave Leak a second chance and allowed him to reopen.

Residents in the Camp Green Community believe that was a mistake.

Well I've noticed I'd be in my bed and I've heard shootings, ambulance, and police over in the mornings, said Patricia Johnson, a resident.

Police say Leak has not kept up the security agreement to hire Special Police to monitor the parking lot.

They also say a shooting on March 31 was the final straw.

The contempt hearing is scheduled for July 8 at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse.

The judge could order the club closed for good.
