CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have arrested a teen in connection to a triple shooting in east Charlotte on Thursday.

Police charged 17-year-old Anthony Williams with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said Williams got into a verbal argument with several other teens that were known to one another and had an ongoing dispute.

Williams pulled a gun and began firing striking a 19-year-old, 15-year-old and a 16-year-old. Williams then fled the scene on foot, according to police.

Williams turned himself in to police headquarters early this morning and was interviewed by detectives before being charged, police said.

He is being held at the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.

This article previous stated Williams with charged with six counts of assault with a deadly weapon. That was an error within a CMPD press release. The actual count is three.
