CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- West Meck High School went on lockdown Monday afternoon after reports of a person with a gun on campus.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say they received a call around 12:30 regarding a student with a weapon on the campus, which is located in the 7400 block of Tuckaseegee Road.

The school went on a precautionary lockdown at 12:30, and students were released at their normal time of 2:15.

School officials say they believed there was a person on the campus with a firearm, but authorities did not locate any weapons.
