Police said Brett Morgan, 47, was hit and killed by the dump truck trying to make a right turn onto Stonewall Street.
Police arrested Phillip Boone, 58, and charged him with death by motor vehicle and failure to yield right of way.
The truck belonged to Linda Construction of Charlotte, and company officials declined to speak Tuesday.
Occupational Safety and Health Organization (OSHA) records show Linda Construction has three trucks in the Charlotte area and the company has had no prior driving violations.
