SALISBURY, N.C. -- A Salisbury boy was killed Wednesday after a two-vehicle wreck on Airport Road.

The victim was identified as John Marshall Murdock.

No charges had been filed in the case as of Wednesday, Salisbury police said in a news release. The department said a decision on charges would be made after the investigation is completed.

The wreck occurred just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Airport and Cedar Springs roads.

Police said the driver of Honda Accord was traveling east on Airport Road when she tried to make a left turn into a parking lot. But as she turned, the driver pulled into the path of a Jeep Cherokee that was heading in the other directions.

Police said Murdock was a passenger in the Accord, and was killed on impact. A two-year-old who was in the car was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. The injuries did not appear serious, police said.

None of the three occupants in the Cherokee were injured.
