CHARLOTTED, N.C. -- A southern Mecklenburg barbershop will hosted a Hair Cut/Shave-A-Thon Sunday to raise money for domestic violence services in the Charlotte area.

Proceeds from the fundraiser at Roosters Men s Grooming Center of Rea Village will benefit United Family Services and the battered women s shelter.

Organizers said the Roosters Club Cut includes a haircut, head-massaging shampoo, hot steam towel, a dry and style, as well as a brush of powder around the neck.

The event which will also include refreshments, darts, dice games and a raffle was held at the barbershop on Providence Road near Ardrey Kell Road.

October is domestic violence awareness month.
