ROCKHILL, S.C. -- The York County Sheriff's Office has one person in custody for questioning in connection with a stabbing Monday night.

Just after 10 o'clock, deputies with the York County Sheriff's Office arrived at a residence in the 100 block of Cel-River Road.

Upon their arrival, officials found 44-year-old Kenneth Campbell sitting in a chair on the front porch. A witness was holding a towel on Campbell's body, and blood was beginning to soak through.

As soon as the scene was secured by law enforcement, EMS workers immediately began to render aid to Campbell for several stab wounds.

Witnesses told authorities that Roddey Gordon, 52, came to a residence in the 200 block of Cel-River Road looking for a fight .

The victim, Campbell, stated that Gordon attempted to enter the residence, but Campbell was able to push him out.

Then, according to statements, Gordon came back to the home, kicked in the door and stabbed Campbell several times.

After suffering the wounds, Campbell went to a family member's home just down the road. That's where he was met by deputies and EMS.

Campbell was airlifted to CMC Main. His current condition has not been released by officials.

Roddey was taken into custody for questioning. No arrests have been made, but authorities say when a suspect is charged, the charge will be for one count of attempted murder.

Officials say there was no evidence of damage immediately noticed that would indicate the door had been kicked in.
