CONCORD, N.C. Officials at the Charlotte Motor Speedway say that 10 fans were injured when a nylon rope fell over the grandstands in turn four on lap 121 of the Coca-Cola 600.

Officials said that three people were transported to the hospital for evaluation.

The rope was a guide for a network television overhead camera.

An NBC Charlotte crew at the race at the time of the crash said it was not immediately clear what happened until the race was stopped due to the roaring race engines.

The Coca-Cola 600 was at a standstill for nearly 30 minutes as workers tried to remove pieces of the cable from the track.

According to a report by USAToday, the cable damaged race cars traveling 195 mph. Race leader Kyle Busch had some of the worst damage.

Reportedly, seven fans were treated at the track and three were taken to a hospital.
