UNION COUNTY, N.C. -- A Union County teacher is out of a job after allegedly soliciting a teenager online.

Randall Cassels was arrested at Piedmont High School, where he was substituting on Monday.

Deputies say he made contact with a 16-year-old he met while teaching at a West Virginia high school, and then began sending her sexually explicit messages.

Union County School District says the Cassels was fired as soon as the officials learned of the charges.

Cassels was covering for teacher on maternity leave. He was hired in August 2013.
