MOUNT ULLA, N.C. It was a peculiar sight Sunday morning, the ground covered in white hail.
Dozens of residents on French Belk Road woke up to sound of falling hail pelting their homes.
It woke me up about 3:30 this morning, said Lizzie Wagner, I thought it was raining on my air condition, she said looking at her yard.
Anyone who managed to sleep through the hail storm may have thought they were looking at snow.
It was thick, and in some places 3 to 5 inches of hail was on the ground.
It was so bad on the road that the state came out here about 9am this morning and raked it off the roads. It was that bad, Wagner explained.
The damage was not major and there were no reports of injuries, but the storm managed to pack a punch to Wagner's flower bed before passing through.
Ruined our flowers our tulips and everything are gone, she said surveying the damage.
