CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Albemarle native and American Idol star, Kellie Pickler, was bestowed an honor by the legendary Rolling Stone magazine.

Last Friday, Rolling Stone named Pickler's album 100 Proof one of 2012's best country albums.

In the online article, Rolling Stone said 100 Proof may be one of the best traditionalist albums of the year .

100 Proof, Pickler's third album, debuted at number two on the Billboard Top Country Album chart upon its release on January 24, 2012.

Rounding out the top five country albums of the year, as named by Rolling Stone, are Jamey Johnson's Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran, Lionel Richie's Tuskegee, JB and the Moonshine Band's Beer for Breakfast and Easton Corbin's All over the Road.
