BOONE N.C. -- The medical examiner determined Tyler Blalock died from an accidental drowning last weekend, now investigators say the teen died after a night of partying and drinking.
In a press release sent to NBC Charlotte, authorities say they found Blalock's wallet which contained two different IDs. One was a university AppCard with his name, and the other was a N.C. drivers license belonging to another individual, said University officials in the statement.
Investigators say they interviewed several friends of Blalock and traced his steps that led to his untimely death. According to campus officials, on September 28th he attending an off campus party around 8 p.m. and was reportedly in a shomewhat intoxicated state . Officials say the 19-year-old then purchased beer at a local store and returned to the party.
Around 11:30 p.m. Blalock left his friends at the party and headed for a nearby bar. Witnesses told officials he was seen leaving the bar around 2:30 a.m. heading towards campus.
The next day his body was discovered face down in a creek running through Durham Park on campus.
University police tell NBCCharlotte they have shared information regarding their investigation with The Department of Public Safety's Alcohol Law Enforcement division.
