MONROE, N.C. -- Two teen boys are charged in a series of break-ins in the Monroe area, after an officer reported spotting them pushing a hand truck loaded with a subwoofer.

Just before 5 a.m. on Tuesday, a Monroe Police officer spotted Montavis Huntley and Christian Cole, both 17, with the subwoofer. Authorities say when the officer questioned the boys, they fled, but were both apprehended a short time later hiding out in the stairwell of the First Baptist Church of Monroe.

Huntley and Cole were determined to be suspects in multiple crimes committed during the night including breaking into Frontier Communications and The Magnolia House. Officials say the boys also broke into a vehicle and were linked to the January 14 burglary of Monroe Paintball.

Both Huntley and Cole are charged with two counts of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering, and one count each of breaking and entering a motor vehicle.

The Monroe Police Department says the investigation continues and more charges are expected.
