CORNELIUS, N.C. -- Cornelius neighbors are buzzing over their new neighbor: NBA legend and Charlotte Bobcats Owner Michael Jordan.
He's Mr. Basketball, but he'll be Mr. Neighbor, said Maggie Farrell, who would like to greet the new guy on the block. Kind of flabbergasted he s moving into the neighborhood. I hope we can make him feel welcome.
Farrell lives a block away from the home Jordan reportedly bought in the exclusive Peninsula neighborhood on Lake Norman.
A neighbor said Jordan was at the home Sunday, moved a few things in and signed an autograph for a young girl.

He'll be just another guy in the neighborhood, albeit a very famous one, Farrell said.
Deb Parry lives two doors down, plans to wave at Jordan when he drives by and would like to have Jordan over for lunch or dinner.
Sounds like a wonderful guy, want to get to know him as a person, Parry said.
Maybe bring him some muffins like we do with most neighbors when they move in, Farrell said.
The house is 12,310 heated square feet, has an amazing entrance, six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a pool, gazebo, outdoor paths and a boat slip to name just a few of the many amenities.
According to the Charlotte Busines Journal, Jordan bought it for $2.8 million from First Community Bank. It s one of a handful of homes Jordan owns, including a condo in uptown Charlotte.
NHRA drag racer Doug Herbert used to own the house and says Jordan bought it. Herbert gave NBC Charlotte an exclusive look inside the house when he put it on the market for just under $4 million last spring.
Neighbors wonder how often they'll see Jordan, or if he bought it but someone else will be the primary resident.
I hope he has good luck with the house and the neighborhood, Parry said. We ll try to protect his privacy best we can.
Other Cornelius neighbors are now wondering what they'll do if they see Jordan around town.
I'd try not to act like an idiot, let him go about his business, said Cornelius resident Karen Hovis.
No big deal to me, said longtime Cornelius resident Johnny Bustle.
Bustle says that isn t his Duke sweatshirt talking. Instead, it is years of seeing other celebrities who live on the lake.
