CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two people were hurt in a car accident in Charlotte s South End Tuesday afternoon.

A Hyundai Sonata apparently lost control, driving up on the sidewalk, striking a pedestrian then coming to rest, piled on top of cars in the parking lot of Carolina Food at the intersection of West Boulevard and Tryon Street.

Both the driver and pedestrian were taken to the hospital with injuries officials believe are not life threatening.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating what caused the wreck
