CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Two men pulled over in a traffic stop by CMPD officers are behind several recent armed robberies, according to investigators.

Police began investigating the string of robberies starting with the Red Sea Grocery Store on East Independence Boulevard on Jan. 13. Two suspects demanded money at gunpoint, police say, and then fled the business.

CMPD says the same thing happened at Dollar General on Oakdale Road, MC Food Mart on Sam Wilson Road and 7-Eleven on Mount Holly Huntersville Road in the following days.

Early Sunday morning, police pulled over a vehicle driven by 23-year-old Quashawn Ali Oliver, 23. Jarvis Short, 20, was the passenger. Police say Short was found to be in possession of a concealed handgun.

They arrested him for possession of a firearm by a felon. Short was taken into custody, and following interviews with investigators, police say he confessed to participating in the robberies.

Both suspects face numerous charges including conspiracy to commit robbery and second-degree kidnapping.

Officers say they found gloves and a bandana matching the description of the items used in the 7-Eleven robbery in the vehicle. After a couple of days, police were able to charge him for the incidents. He was arrested Tuesday without incident.
