CHESTER, S.C. -- A Chester teen is lucky to be alive after a close encounter with a train.

EMS tells NBC Charlotte a teen was on the train tracks on Torbit Street around 10 a.m. when the train ran over his foot.

Officials say the 17-year-old's left foot was amputated when the train went by but crews were able to locate the foot.

The teen was airlifted to CMC.
